Nobody's Actually Average

Production guitars are designed for the average player. A real custom electric guitar starts with what you need — not what's already built.

Maybe you need a certain neck profile because standard shapes cramp your hands. Or you play blues and need that warm tone you can't get from factory pickups. Maybe every guitar you've tried digs into your ribs after 30 minutes.

"We're not just bolting your name on a guitar. We're designing the whole thing around you — body wood, neck, pickups, hardware, finish. Every choice."

You tell us how you play. We build the instrument around it.

Choose Your Tone

Wood makes a bigger difference than most people realize. We use solid woods only — no particle board, no cheap laminates.

Alder

Balanced tone that works for almost everything. The reliable all-rounder for most playing styles and genres.

Ash

Brighter with more attack. Great for country, funk, and clean articulation where note definition matters.

Mahogany

Warm and thick with exceptional sustain. Heavier, but the tone payoff is worth every ounce.

Maple

Bright and punchy. Often used as a figured top on a mahogany body for looks and tonal balance.

Your Neck Is Where You Live

Thin necks are fast for lead work. Medium profiles are versatile. Chunky profiles give you more to grab onto for rhythm and grip.

Scale length affects everything — Fender's 25.5" means tighter tension and more clarity. Gibson's 24.75" is looser, with easier bends and a warmer tone. We'll help you choose.

Bolt-on necks are bright and snappy. Set-neck adds sustain. Neck-through gives maximum resonance — and the price reflects it honestly.

Where Tone Gets Shaped

Factory pickups are designed for everybody — which means they're not quite right for anybody. We match pickups to your music and your hands.

Single-Coils

Blues · Country · Clean — Bright, clear, chimey. The classic Strat sound. Great for clean tones, blues, and country. Some hum — but that's part of the character.

Humbuckers

Rock · Metal · Jazz — Thicker and fatter. Two coils cancel the hum. More output, handles distortion beautifully. The go-to for rock, metal, and warm jazz.

P90s

Blues · Grit · Character — The middle ground. Fatter than single-coils, clearer than humbuckers. Great for blues and rock that needs grit without going full humbucker.

The Real Process

No factory floors. No anonymous assembly lines. Here's exactly what happens when you commission a guitar from Central Oregon Guitars.

Single-Coils

Phone, email, or video call. We talk about what you play, what you've tried, and what's frustrated you.

Spec

Body shape, neck profile, pickups, hardware. We explain each option so you make informed decisions — not guesses.

Build & QC

Your guitar is built by hand, every fret leveled individually. Then we play it ourselves before it ships.

Ship

Hard case, proper padding, and your full specs documented on file — forever.

You're Probably One of These

Factory pickups are designed for everybody — which means they're not quite right for anybody. We match pickups to your music and your hands.

Working Musician - Playing Gigs & Recording

You need an instrument that won't let you down through a three-hour set or a studio session. Factory guitars are hit or miss. You can't afford a miss.

Collector - Something That Means Something

Not "limited edition" marketing. A guitar built around your idea — a specific combination that doesn't exist anywhere else, executed with COG precision.

Picky Player - Tried Everything, Nothing Fit

Hands too big or too small. Need features nobody offers. You've spent years trying to make production guitars work. You're done doing that.

Why Custom Wins

Production guitars are built to a price point. COG guitars are built to a standard. Here's exactly what that means for you.

What to Expect

Lead Time

Most builds run 30–45 days depending on complexity. Finishes cure at their own pace — you can't rush chemistry. Cheap production guitars skip these steps to hit deadlines. We don't. We give you a realistic timeline upfront with no surprises.

Pricing

Custom costs more than production. You're paying for time, expertise, quality materials, and individual attention. But it's actually cheaper than buying three or four guitars trying to find one that works. You tell us what you want — we tell you what it costs.

Shipping

We ship to all 50 states and internationally. Every guitar ships in a hard case with proper padding — not like an Amazon package. International orders account for customs timing. We've shipped worldwide and know what it takes to protect an instrument in transit.

Remote Consultation

Most customers never visit our shop. Everything happens over phone, email, and video calls. We show you wood samples over video and send build progress photos. You don't need to be local to get a guitar built right.
